Tips for coping with your exams

As exam season approaches it is important to take care of your physical and mental health. When you are in the middle of studying or even during exams, your focus is usually on your work. It may feel like a waste of time and effort to spend any time on cooking, going food shopping, exercising or even sleeping. However, it is a mistake to neglect yourself altogether.

Food and eating- To manage your exams you need to eat well. For more information, have a look at SafeFood for some quick and easy healthy recipes.

Sleeping- It is important that you get enough sleep. Check out the College Resource Centre for advice on how to get a good night’s rest!

Exercise- It can be tempting to decide that you have no time to exercise during exam periods. However, exercise has proven benefits for brain activity. Take a look at Fitness Blender for free workouts.

Managing Stress- One of the hardest issues around exam time is to stay calm and manage stress. Check out the HSE’s free ‘Stress Control’ online class, Mindful Shared Practice or Calm (meditation app).

Keeping well is important and looking after yourself through cooking, exercising, eating well and sleeping is not a waste of time. Getting these right, will help your studying and exams become a little bit easier
